Lush London Revamps to Know About

The Dorchester in London is showing off its revamped Belgravia Suites, which represent the final phase of a five-year refurbishment plan.

The updated suites have marble fireplaces, walnut flooring and a palette consisting of gray, blue and gold tones. Good to know: The suites (there are seven) overlook Hyde Park.

Those who stay in the suites get to enjoy the “Essence of Belgravia” experience, which is conducted by the head butler, Paul. This includes chic amenities such as fresh flower bouquets created by The Dorchester’s in-house designer and florist, Philip Hammond, and a pot of the hotel’s signature tea blend. Guests can also partake in a candle-making masterclass led by home fragrance expert Rachel Vosper; they will join Vosper for a private tour of her workshop and will create their own bespoke scent.

In addition to the Belgravia Suites, the three rooftop suites — Harlequin, Terrace and Audley — were completely refurbished; similar to the Belgravia Suites, these were designed by interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud. The four-room Ballroom Suite was restored to its classic, 1930s Art-Deco style.

The Dorchester is located in London’s Mayfair district and is home to the three Michelin-starred restaurant Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester. To book special requests, contact Kate Staniforth (reservations.tdl@dorchestercollection.com), reservations supervisor.

In other London news, The Bloomsbury is touting a new reception area and guest lounge, but we’re all about The Coral Room, the new bar. The Coral Room has five unique Murano glass chandeliers and art by British illustrator Luke Edward Hall. The bar itself is classic, with a marble top and brass detailing. Last year, The Bloomsbury added the Dalloway Terrace, an al fresco dining space and the Bloomsbury Club Bar, which features a “Poet in Residence.”

Arriving to the neighborhood in 2018 will be two new Crossrail stations: Court Road and Farringdon. Next to the hotel, the British Museum will complete a refurbishment by the end of 2018, with plans to open three new galleries.
