LUX* Resorts & Hotels’ new flagship in Mauritius—LUX* Grand Baie Resort & Residences—has opened its doors. The opening coincided with LUX* Resorts & Hotels’ 10th anniversary. The boutique-style resort offers beachside living, with immersive dining concepts, fitness and wellness facilities, besides unique Mauritian experiences.
Each of the 86 LUX* Junior Suites spanning 700 square feet has a dressing room, bedroom and a bathroom with an oversized shower and separate bathtub. The 20 LUX* Pool Residences are two-bedroom accommodations, spanning 1,938 square feet. The resort’s two LUX* Pool Penthouses have three bedrooms and offer 3,498 square feet of space; these come with private pools, modern kitchens, expansive terraces, and private living and dining rooms.
There are seven LUX* Pool Villas featuring two bedrooms. Each 2,583-square-feet villa has a private pool and fire pit, besides an outdoor gazebo and sundecks on a shaded terrace. The three-bedroom LUX* Grand Beach Pool Villa spreads over 4,520 square feet of space and offers direct access to the beach. It has a wide sun deck, and a chef de maison is at hand to serve meals on the outdoor terrace.
Good to know: The LUX* Pool Penthouse, LUX* Pool Villa and LUX* Grand Beach Pool Villa all offer private butler service.
Beach Rouge, the resort’s signature beach club concept, serves fresh, locally sourced cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At sundown, the space is lit in a red tint and hosts a resident DJ. Ai KISU (meaning “flame” in Japanese) serves Asian cuisine created using warayaki straw fire cooking in an open kitchen. Its accompanying private club, Club Ai KISU, will host pop-up dinner parties and sets from international DJs and local musicians alike. European-inspired Maison LUX* brews fresh, organic own-blend coffee and serves a selection of French, Italian and Spanish pastries, as well as homemade gelato. The rooftop bar and restaurant, Bisou, has views of the surrounding Indian Ocean. The adults-only area will be home to a 100-foot infinity pool which will serve tapas-style cuisine on floating trays and is surrounded by cabanas and greenery. At night, the space transforms into a lounge bar where guests can enjoy music sets from the hotel’s resident DJ.
A holistic approach to wellness is a key component in the design of LUX* ME Spa & Fitness. The wellness facilities span four floors. The spa offers immersive thermal experiences including a unique hydrotherapy concept, Kneipp walk, Turkish Hammam and Tepidarium soaks, alongside eight spacious treatment rooms. LUX* Me Fitness offers a balance of indoor and outdoor wellness experiences. Additionally, weekly fitness and wellness classes ranging from strength and functional training to HIIT, cycling, soft-sand running, mobility recovery and yoga are open for small and large groups. Personal training and specialized urban fitness retreats, integrating the latest exercise science principles, are also available.
There is also a Technogym Group Cycle Studio with both instructor-led and virtual on-demand cycling classes. The Niyama Studio offers yoga, Pilates, stretch and release classes for individuals and small groups. The Wellness Bar offers pre-session and post-workout beverages to recharge and rehydrate. Lastly, the resort also has an outdoor rooftop wellness experience, Muscle Up on the Roof.
For families, LUX* JUNIORS PLAY is open for children between three and 12 years. Children can try their hands at the Little Green Fingers gardening project, making gelato at the Ice Cream Lab and creating calm with a session of Junior Yoga. Teens can spend time at Studio 17 playing vintage arcade games, exploring their musical talents at the DJ deck or honing their creative eye at the Photofanatics station. They can explore the seas with windsurfing, kayaking and paddle-boarding lessons.
