Looking for some hotels that are giving back? We’ve got you covered. Several members of The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), Relais & Châteaux and others are working to make a difference in their communities and regions and the world.
In Italy, LHW’s Hotel Santa Caterina, Le Sirenuse and Palazzo Avino, Relais & Châteaux’s Il San Pietro di Positano and Don Alfonso restaurant have joined forces and pledged their support to a fundraising campaign in partnership with leading southern Italian medical institutes to find an effective COVID-19 vaccine. Each hotel is offering 10 vouchers (being sold for 5,000 euros each) that includes a two-night stay at the chosen property, VIP activities on-property and one dinner at Don Alfonso.
In neighboring France, Hôtel Chais Monnet in the Cognac region has leveraged its gourmet expertise to deliver meals to doctors and hospital workers. And in the “City of Lights” Le Bristol Paris’ team donated essentials and delicacies to the intensive care unit of Parisian hospital Bichat.
In Switzerland, Hotel Eden Roc employees and their families purchased groceries and medications for high-risk individuals in their communities and delivered them without any physical contact to their doorsteps. Austria’s famous Hotel Sacher Wein donated their perishable food to local charity organizations and all the Sacher Tortes to the community.
In the Netherlands, a number of luxury Amsterdam hotels, including Conservatorium Hotel and De L'Europe Amsterdam, Amstel Hotel, Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, Pulitzer Amsterdam and Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam delivered 1,000 bouquets of Dutch tulips to eight different care homes in Amsterdam. The hotels worked with tulip farmer Jan Ligthart and initially planned to present the tulips at the Virtuoso Symposium in Vienna in March, but since the event was cancelled due to COVID-19, the hotels took the initiative to their elderly neighbors instead.
Across the world in Indonesia, the Nihi Sumba team is visiting villages throughout the island and educating the community on how to take preventive measures for COVID-19.
