Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has had its eye on Istanbul for awhile. A waterfront property called Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, Istanbul-- located in the Beşiktaş district-- has been in the pipeline for years. Expect al fresco dining overlooking the Bosphorus and 130 luxurious guest rooms with balconies for taking in the panoramas. Now the company has announced a second hotel management contract in Istanbul, this time situated in the Etiler residential area, near the city’s central business district. Mandarin Oriental has teamed up with owner Astaș Holding A.Ş and developer Yapi & Yapi on the project.
Here’s what to expect at the Mandarin Oriental Etiler, Istanbul. The luxury hotel will occupy a skyscraper in a new development of three standalone towers. The other two towers will be home to 251 luxury residences by Mandarin Oriental. (Residences will come with private gardens, sky-high swimming pools, and access to the hotel’s facilities.)
Guests of the hotel’s 158 guestrooms and suites will be privy to the spa, fitness center, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. There will be a variety of restaurants and bars, and flexible meeting and event space.
Mandarin Oriental already manages a luxury beach resort in Bodrum, Turkey. Overlooking the Aegean Sea, the resort has two private beaches and an extensive spa. The Hong Kong-based luxury hotel group now operates 32 hotels and six residences in 23 countries and territories. In this portfolio, there’s already an instance of twin properties in a single city: Mandarin Oriental has two, complementary hotels in Hong Kong and will soon have a duo in London.
