London is already home to a famous Mandarin Oriental hotel. Situated next to Hyde Park in Knightsbridge, the five-star property is a landmark Edwardian style building that’s home to stylish eateries including Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Bar Boulud. Mandarin Oriental’s Knightsbridge hotel has been undergoing a significant multimillion-pound renovation, with the last stage expected to be completed in spring 2018.
Now, the luxury hotel company has unveiled plans for a second complementary hotel in Hanover Square. Slated to open in 2021, the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London will be a small boutique hotel with just 50 guestrooms. There will also be 80 branded residences billed as “some of the most exclusive private homes in the city.”
The Telegraph describes the location as “a relatively quiet setting within an easy stroll of both Oxford Street and Regent Street, with the rest of London readily accessible via the soon-to-open Bond Street Crossrail station, which will face the hotel.”
Despite its small size, the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London won’t skimp on luxurious facilities. There will be an indoor pool, a spa, a fitness center, a fine dining restaurant, a bar, a lobby lounge, and—de rigueur in cool urban hotels these days—a rooftop bar overlooking Mayfair.
The property is being developed by Mayfair-based Clivedale London, and designed by the award-winning architectural firm, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners.
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group currently operates 31 hotels and eight residences in 21 countries and territories around the world, with more in the pipeline.
