Mandarin Oriental Takes Over San Clemente Palace Hotel in Venice

Mandarin Oriental has announced that it will manage and rebrand the San Clemente Palace Hotel in Venice, Italy. Situated on a private island spanning more than 12 acres, this historic retreat seamlessly combines the seclusion of a resort with easy access to the cultural heart of Venice. Framing views of the Venetian lagoon, just an eight-minute boat ride from San Marco Square, the hotel is surrounded by gardens and the waters of La Serenissima.

Mandarin Oriental will operate the hotel until its seasonal closure in November 2025, signaling the start of extensive three-phase renovation. The property will be rebranded as Mandarin Oriental, Venice from April 2026.

The renovation of the hotel’s interiors will be led by the design studio Albion Nord. The refreshed property will feature 136 guestrooms and suites, blending Venetian charm with Mandarin Oriental’s signature design philosophy.

The hotel is set within a collection of beautifully restored 900-year-old monastery buildings and ancient gardens including a 12th century church. Four distinctive dining venues will offer a unique perspective on Mandarin Oriental’s approach to gastronomy, while The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will feature multiple treatment rooms, a Finnish sauna, steam bath, multi-sensory showers and a relaxation lounge. The group’s signature spa therapies will be further enhanced by wellness amenities including a yoga pavilion, an outdoor pool, tennis and paddle courts.

Expansive indoor and outdoor events spaces will make full use of the island’s picturesque setting, while a children’s area will provide engaging experiences for younger guests.
