Lima is getting a significant luxury hospitality upgrade: Marriott International has announced plans to convert two of its existing Peru properties into a JW Marriott and a Ritz-Carlton, with both set to debut under their new brand flags in 2028.
The moves involve a brand swap of sorts. The current JW Marriott Hotel Lima in Miraflores will be repositioned as The Ritz-Carlton, Lima, while the former Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center in Paseo Begonias, San Isidro will take over the JW Marriott name. The Ritz-Carlton, Lima is expected to become only the second Ritz-Carlton property in South America.
"The transformation of the two properties represents a milestone for the evolution of hospitality in Lima and reinforces the city's growing presence on the global travel map as a dynamic urban center," said Walter Regidor, regional vice president for Central & South America at Marriott International. "As travelers look beyond traditional luxury markets, Lima stands out for its cultural richness, culinary leadership, and vibrant urban energy."
For advisors piecing together South America itineraries — particularly clients embarking on an Amazon River cruise — the two properties could anchor a compelling Lima pre-stay before heading into the jungle.
The conversions deepen Marriott's already-substantial luxury footprint in Peru, which includes Tambo del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa in Cusco; JW Marriott El Convento Cusco; Palacio del Inka, a Luxury Collection Hotel; and Hotel Paracas, a Luxury Collection Resort. Across the broader region, Marriott counts 17 luxury hotels in markets including Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama.
The repositioned JW Marriott Hotel Lima is also expected to add fresh hospitality energy to Paseo Begonias, a mixed-use district integrating office, retail, and hotel offerings, with the new JW flag intended to broaden the property's appeal beyond its existing corporate base to leisure and international guests.
