The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts is reopening the historic Cristallo, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy this month.
The hotel is owned and operated by the Gualandi family, and marks the Luxury Collection brand’s first hotel in Cortina as well as its first ski resort worldwide.
The renovations will be undergone until December, at which point the hotel will host its first ski season. Mitzi Gaskin, global brand leader at The Luxury Collection and JW Marriott, said in a press release that this hotel “truly defines its destination.”
Within the hotel are four restaurants: La Stube 1872, incorporating local produce and tradition; Il Gazebo, serving up authentic regional fare; La Veranda, offering guests more traditional local cuisine; and La Terrazza, which will be open during the summer and serving al fresco dining amidst a view of the mountains.
Guests at the Cristallo also have access to the ULTIMATE SPA, a Transvital Swiss beauty center. The spa focuses on locally sourced, exclusive therapeutic treatments such as detox, anti-ageing, relaxation and après ski rituals. There is also access to a Hammam, sauna, Romanesque indoor pool, FitWell Club gym and golf course, in partnership with Golf Club Cortina.
A historic hotel originally opened in 1901, the Cristallo has previously hosted the Winter Olympics, Hollywood film crews such as “The Pink Panther,” along with celebrities such as Frank Sinatra.
Paola Gualandi, owner and vice president of sales and marketing at the Cristallo Resort & Spa, said in a written statement that the partnership between the hotel and The Luxury Collection will allow the family to continue to provide their tradition of warm, familial hospitality to their guests while also standing out as part of a luxury brand around the world.
The Cristallo is located in northeastern Italy within the Dolomites mountain range. It is also a part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
