Planning a trip to Kenya’s world renowned Maasai Mara to see the Great Migration? We’ve just learned about tempting new luxury digs at Sanctuary Olonana, a luxury safari lodge with 14 glass-walled suites overlooking the Mara River. The ultra-luxe Geoffrey Kent Suite has been designed as a free-flowing, indoor/outdoor space with complete privacy, as it's accessed by its own road. The suite's been done up in local stone and Kenyan cedar wood, and has a modernist feel.
The suite comes with two bedrooms, two freestanding bath tubs and a private wraparound deck with an infinity pool, so you can soak while watching the hippos in the river. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows mean you can appreciate the wildlife viewing from inside, as well.
When it comes to game drives, guests of the suite have their very own dedicated safari guide and vehicle. Another perk is the private dining prepared by a personal chef and served in the dining room. The dedicated team can mix up drinks as you like them from the full in-room bar.
Sanctuary Olonana can arrange activities like hot air balloon safaris, school visits, nature walks, and cultural excursions. Back at the lodge, guests can unwind at the mini spa, which offers treatments using products by Africology and the French marine-based Thalgo line.
Tip: While the best time to view wildlife in the Maasai Mara is July through October, the reserve has such a high concentration of wildlife that there’s never a bad time to visit—even if you don’t time your safari to see the millions of migrating wildebeest.
