Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve has appointed Masanori Hosoya as its general manager. Bringing over two decades of hospitality experience to the role and over 16 years with The Ritz-Carlton brand, Hosoya will oversee all operations and the resort’s business strategy for Mandapa in Ubud, Bali.
Japanese-born and Spanish-raised, Hosoya has spent most of his time in the luxury properties within Marriott International and brought a deep understanding of the Ritz-Carlton brand from Spain and Japan. He began his hospitality career in food and beverage, and worked for various one-Michelin-starred restaurants.
Hosoya joined The Ritz-Carlton, Abama Tenerife in 2005, followed by Hotel Arts Barcelona where he held multiple leadership positions. Returning Japan in 2014, he assumed his hotel manager role at The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo for two years before moving up the ladder as general manager of BVLGARI Hotel and Resorts, Tokyo-Osaka Restaurants. In May 2020, his next role led him to open The Ritz-Carlton Nikko.
He said, “It is an honor to be leading the team at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, this resort already has a soul with its authentic Ubud charm. I look forward to writing a new chapter and welcoming travelers from around the world, while showcasing everything that makes the resort so very special, along with the exceptional service from the Ladies and Gentlemen.”
Leading by example, and continuously seeking opportunities to innovate are two basic traits of Hosoya. He is fluent in Spanish, English and Japanese. To charge up his batteries, he enjoys Ubud’s cuisine, particularly the healthy variety, enjoys football, yoga and being a true Ubudian now.
