Meliá Hotels International has announced the appointment of Jorge Martinez as general manager of Meliá Braco Village in Rio Bueno, Jamaica. In this new role, Martinez will oversee day-to-day operations of the beachside, all-inclusive 232-room hotel and ensure ongoing initiatives and activations are aligned with the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand standards.
Martinez has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including time spent in six countries. Previous appointments include general manager of The Sian Ka'an at Grand Tulum and ME Cancun, hotel manager of Breathless Cabo San Lucas, and director of food and beverage at Secrets The Vine Cancun. Martinez began his career with Royal Caribbean International before entering the hotel sector as the food and beverage manager of Beaches Turks & Caicos.
Born in Chile, Martinez is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. As part of his duties at Meliá Braco Village he will oversee revenue management, training, quality management and more.
Located on a private beach, Meliá Hotels International’s first property in Jamaica is well suited for small groups, romantic getaways, weddings and honeymoons. In addition to the 232 rooms, including 52 suites, Meliá Braco Village has six restaurants, four bars, two swimming pools, the YHI Spa, non-motorized water sports and daily entertainment.
