The Autograph Collection—Marriott’s portfolio of unique, independent hotels—has been growing by leaps and bounds. Launched in 2010 with fewer than five hotels, the brand has now more than 100 properties in 30 countries with an additional 70 in the pipeline.
Rich with personality, these hotels have a distinctive sense of place: they run the gamut from a gorgeous 15th century mansion in Rouen, France to Maine’s Press Hotel, housed inside the Portland Press Herald building in Portland (read our first-hand review here). As we reported at the time, “This portfolio of hotels is on trend with their 'local' approach to hospitality: grounded in their settings, celebrating individuality and unique travel experiences.” Hotels can be found in both urban and leisure resort destinations—from Manhattan to Missouri, and as far flung as Australia, Japan, and Indonesia.
Hotel Beaux Arts Latelier Lounge
In some recent news for the brand in Florida, Miami has welcomed its third Autograph Collection hotel, as Downtown Miami’s Hotel Beaux Arts has joined the portfolio. Situated on the 38th to 40th floors of the JW Marriott Marquis Miami, the 44-room Hotel Beaux Arts opened in 2011 with a focus on the contemporary visual arts.
The Miami Herald reports that “in preparation for joining the Autograph Collection, the hotel has partnered with local gallery Artscape Lab to curate a rotating art collection in the hotel’s common spaces, that will include work from artists Julio Le Parc, Roberto Lombana, John Henry, Edgar Negret and others.” What’s more, guestrooms are now decorated with contemporary artwork and art books.
The other Autograph Collection hotels in the Miami area are the Blue Moon Hotel and Winter Haven.
