Calling all royal fans. There’s a new place to sleep overlooking Kensington Palace— and it’s named in honor of a certain newlywed American Duchess. The Milestone Hotel & Residences—the London flagship of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection and a member of Leading Hotels of the World—has recently unveiled two new suites. Part of a three-year renovation program, the newly designed suites both have views of Kensington Palace and Gardens, the new home of the Duchess of Sussex.
The design team comprises Collection's founder and president, Beatrice Tollman, and her daughter Toni Tollman. The idea is to reflect the history of this Victorian mansion with a decor that blends antiques, objets d’art and custom furnishings.
Here’s what to expect: The 106 Grand Master Suite is also known as The Hermès Suite because of its vintage collection of Hermès scarves. Additional design highlights include a bronze four-poster bed, original period furniture and 12-foot coffered ceilings. The suite’s private balcony is accessed by floor-to-ceiling doors. The Meghan Suite, designed as a tribute to the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has a handmade Savoir bed, custom Italian silks, fine contemporary art and an 18th-century French ebony desk. The enormous bathroom is swathed in black and white marble.
In other news, The Milestone has recently refurbished six residences (especially suited for longer stays for business travelers). Located in Kensington, a few minutes from the city’s museum district and Knightsbridge shopping, the five-star hotel offers Afternoon Tea and gourmet British dining at Cheneston’s Restaurant.
