On Wednesday, Mondrian Park Avenue, managed by Journal Hotels and licensed from sbe, announced that its doors are open again as New York City continues its phased reopening. Guests and locals are welcomed back to the hotel, which includes a new culinary pop-up by chef Rocco DiSpirito. The hotel also has new health and cleanliness protocols in place.
As part of the new culinary collaboration with celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito, he will create a temporary pop-up at Cleo, sbe’s culinary concept (offering a modern take on Mediterranean dishes). Reopening with the hotel, Cleo will have limited outdoor sidewalk seating. A selection of chef Rocco’s dishes will also be served at Mondrian Terrace. Mondrian Park Avenue will donate a portion of profits to City Harvest in support of its causes.
Also reopened is Mondrian Terrace, the hotel’s rooftop lounge and bar, located on the fifteenth floor. Overlooking Park Avenue South, the lounge provides a comfortable indoor-outdoor sky lobby setting for guests’ all-day use, as well as an evening hangout for cocktails and dinner. Mondrian Terrace will accommodate outdoor use initially.
Mondrian Park Avenue’s new cleanliness protocols are aligned with the latest city and state guidelines. Among new measures being undertaken across the property are the use of UV lights to sanitize luggage and rooms, and providing proper PPE equipment, including masks, to guests and staff. The hotel’s public spaces have also been reorganized to follow pertinent social distancing rules.
Charlie Katz serves as the general manager of Mondrian Park Avenue.
