With 2023 right around the corner, Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC will debut a year-long “Well Living” series starting January. Each month, the series will focus on themes ranging from celebrating the earth, women, diversity, inclusion, people, connections and more. Montage Palmetto Bluff’s inaugural theme in January will aptly focus on renewal.
In January, the Southern resort will offer a range of workshops and activities centered on wellbeing in every form, designed to enhance health, balance, mindfulness and connectivity. Nestled within 20,000 acres of historic land in the Lowcountry, the resort is an ideal getaway for guests looking to immerse themselves in nature, including wildlife and views of the May River. Highlights for January’s renewal theme are listed below.
- Artist Katie White will host classes such as painting as a form of meditation, writing as a form of therapy and color therapy
- Sacred shamanic journey with cacao and sound healing led by Tanya Colucci, founder of Sacred Soul Guidance; a fire ceremony focused on releasing unwanted energies; and a cacao and heart alchemy ceremony with energy healing
- Yoga classes focused on restoration and detox, self-myofascial release therapy, and meditation using chants and beads
- Sessions with Charlotte Hardwick, founder of Flow and Flourish, and wellness chef Kimberly Harper on guidelines to vibrant health and lifelong wellness
- Sessions with Kimberly Harper on embracing women’s health through a plant forward diet
- Plant-based dinner at Octagon in collaboration with Teresa Brandow, owner of Avocado Blue in Bluffton and Hilton Head
February’s theme, “Fostering Love & Honoring Black Heritage,” will pay homage to the Lowcountry’s deep connection with Black heritage through celebrations of the region’s culinary traditions and artwork. As part of the programming and timed to Black History Month and Valentine’s Day, Montage Palmetto Bluff will also debut a new partnership with Memphis-based chocolatier, Philip Ashley, who has developed four custom flavors for the resort, which will be placed in guest accommodations each night as part of the resort’s turndown service. Ashley will also host a wine and chocolate tasting on February 10-11. Additional highlights for the month of February include:
- Brown Estate Winery’s wines and pairings on menus in both Octagon and River House; the team from Napa Valley’s first Black-owned estate winery will host a tasting in the resort’s recently opened speakeasy, Hush, on February 4. This event is open to the public
- Lowcountry artist Amiri Geuka Farris’ multidisciplinary works will be displayed throughout the Inn Library and guests can meet the artist in person. This event is also open to the public
- Storyteller, chef and culinary historian Sallie Ann Robinson, a sixth generation Gullah who has dedicated her life to chronicling and sharing Gullah recipes, dialect and folklore, will lead an immersive four-course dinner. This event is also open to the public
- Community activist and cultural influencer, Luana Graves Sellars, will lead a series of talks on her Gullah Geechee roots, the history and people
The “Well Living” program for March will center around “Honoring Women,” notably those who share their creativity, businesses, and passions, with events designed to uplift women connected to the Lowcountry. Collaborating partners include Megan Hale, owner of Savannah-based Hale Tea; Bassima Mroue and Dr. Amy Bader, founders of sparkling wellness soda, SkinTē; and Françoise Antech Gazeau, the queen of bubbly in the Languedoc whose family’s champagnes pair perfectly with southern favorites such as fried chicken and oysters.
