We have a winner! LUX* Grand Gaube, located on the northern point of Mauritius, has been crowned Luxury Travel Advisor's Most Instagrammable Hotel in the World for 2023.
We started with 64 hotels (which were selected by the Luxury Travel Advisor editorial staff from among 170-plus nominees) and, after six rounds of voting, we finally have named our champion. Representing the "Eastern Hemisphere"—the combined Asia, Indian Ocean and South Pacific; and Europe, Middle East and Africa brackets—LUX* Grand Gaube received 32,637 votes in the final round, defeating runner-up, Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo Hotel—champion of the "Western Hemisphere," the combined Latin America and Caribbean and North America regions—which received 17,159. In the end, two-thirds of the vote (66 percent) went for the champ.
Prior to the championship round, Lux Grand Gaube, champion from the Asia, Indian Ocean and South Pacific region, defeated Portugal's Savoy Palace, which represented the Europe, Middle East and Africa bracket. Kudos to the Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo Hotel, which took the crown in the Latin America and Caribbean bracket, before topping the Thompson Central Park, winner of the North America bracket.
The Champion
LUX* Grand Gaube
En-route to its final matchup with Tivoli Mofarrej São Paulo Hotel, LUX* Grande Gaube outscored Savoy Palace in the highest-scoring matchup in the contest. It secured 52.54 percent of the 58,675 votes cast (a final tally of 30,829 to 27,846). In the previous rounds, it was easier sailing for the eventual champion. In the Elite Eight, versus Treeful Treehouse, it received 61 percent of the vote; in the Sweet 16 versus Uga Ulagalla, it earned 68 percent of the vote; in the second round, it topped The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands with 65 percent of the vote; and in the first round, it dispatched COMO Laucala Island with 70 percent of the vote. Turns out, the natural-yet-retro-chic décor at LUX* Grand Gaube is exactly what you’re looking for when choosing a destination for your next tropical getaway—what a great introduction to your hotel stay in Mauritius.
