Barceló Hotel Group just announced the opening of its flagship hotel in central Mexico City: Barceló México Reforma.
The new five-star hotel is equipped with 500 rooms is located on Paseo de la Reforma, a main road running diagonally through the city. In a press release, the hotel group said that its first urban hotel is "perfect" for this location, as it is a hot spot for shopping, culture, tourism and business. In recent year, this area has “experienced a real estate boom” thanks to the construction of skyscrapers as well as the restoration of classic buildings.
The site of Barceló México Reforma was completely renovated in 2015, now housing a buffet restaurant, steakhouse, lobby bar, wellness offerings, a sports bar and lounge and modern event facilities that can hold groups of up to 800 people. The hotel allows business, cultural and leisure travelers to “make the most” of the city, the release said, “in a setting that reflects the spirit of the Mexican people and their traditions.”
Juan Perez Sosa, senior vice president of sales and marketing in the United States for the hotel group, said in the release that the brand is already prominent in Mexico, with over 20 hotels nationwide. He added that they are proud to finally establish themselves in Mexico City, as it will “demonstrate [their] extensive expertise in the urban hospitality industry,” something he says the hotel group has been developing over the course of many years in major Latin American and European cities.
In the release, Sosa concluded that by incorporating the brand’s principles in this new property, they are sure to transform the hotel into “an example of quality and exclusiveness” in Mexico City.
