Hitting the beach in Bermuda this summer? There’s a new luxury address that’s crossed our radar and it’s getting lots of buzz for being the first new-build hotel on the island in 45 years. Situated on the southern coast on a site formerly home to the Pink Beach Club, The Loren at Pink Beach is the pet project of former investment banker and hedge fund principal Stephen King. The boutique hotel sits on eight acres with exceptional views over the Atlantic. The contemporary design is striking; there’s a glass spiral staircase connecting the lobby to the restaurants, and custom carpets designed with maps of Bermuda. King is passionate about collecting art, and these works now decorate the public spaces and guest rooms.
There are just 45 suites, complete with five-piece marble bathrooms and Malin + Goetz bath products. Guests can catch some rays on the pink sand beach or by the pools (take a nap in one of the four poolside cabanas). The bijou spa, with four treatment rooms, offers signatures like the Loren Massage using warm Himalayan Pink Salt stones. Note that many of these treatments showcase locally sourced ingredients like hibiscus. Expect a variety of wellness offerings, as well, like outdoor yoga classes.
A hotel highlight is the food. “Local” is the name of the game here, with ingredients sourced directly from Bermuda fishermen and farms like Wadson's and Tucker's. Overseeing the operations is Executive Chef Tim Sullivan of Great Performances, the New York City catering group. Marée is the fine dining restaurant, serving new American cuisine, while The Pink Beach Club is a more casual spot.
The Loren at Pink Beach opened on April 29, just in time for the start of the 35th America's Cup in the Great Sound of Bermuda on May 26.
