A flurry of new boutique hotels on Mallorca is adding to the allure of the Spanish Mediterranean isle. Designed with style and authenticity in mind, this new crop of luxury hotels is a far cry from the all-inclusive resorts that were long associated with Mallorca. Many of these properties are calling attention to the beautiful and atmospheric setting of Palma de Mallorca’s Old Town. Following in the footsteps of the dreamy Hotel Sant Francesc (which opened in 2015), Hotel Es Princep and Can Bordoy Grand House & Garden (both debuting in winter 2019), we’ve learned about El Llorenç Parc de la Mar, slated to open in La Calatrava, one of Palma’s oldest neighborhoods, in July 2019.
There is a lot to look forward to at this boutique hotel, including a rooftop terrace with infinity pool and cocktail bar, plus a restaurant by local darling, the famous Mallorcan chef, Santi Taura.
Swedish designer Magnus Ehrland decorated the interiors. With geometric motifs, lattice work and tiling, the 33 guestrooms pay homage to the island’s history and Moorish influences, like the neighborhood’s ancient Arab Baths and La Almudaina, a former Moorish fortress transformed into a royal palace.
Despite the small number of rooms, there will be wellness facilities where guests can go for a swim in the indoor pool or indulge in a spa treatment with Natura Bissé products. The F&B concepts will include two restaurants and a lobby bar. The gourmet restaurant, DINS Santi Taura, will serve a menu celebrating the island’s traditional cuisine with locally sourced ingredients like fresh seafood and Mallorcan pork.
