Planning a winter getaway to the Swiss Alps? The legendary resort of St. Moritz is one of the world’s great alpine destinations, with a high-octane dose of glamour to boot. New for the winter season, the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz has launched a paragliding experience, so now you can take to the skies above the magnificent snow-covered landscapes. Part of the Tschuggen Hotel Group, the luxury hotel is known to devise unique experiences for guests (talk about bragging rights). Some include private cooking courses with Michelin-starred chefs, panoramic journeys on the “Glacier Express” across Switzerland, and bespoke adventures designed by the dedicated outdoor butler—think helicopter rides, night skiing, bob sledding and more.
Now, starting in December, you can add paragliding to the list. Depending on the weather, the paragliding experience leaves from either Muottas Muragl (on the southern slopes of the Blais da Muottas) or Coravatsch (in the Bernina Range of the Alps). Both these spots overlook the Engadin from right outside St. Moritz. Choose the length of time for the experience—between 10-40 minutes—and then take flight above a winter wonderland with an experienced pilot. The paragliding experience is priced from 200 CHF (which is almost the exact same in USD) per person. Tip: Wear warm clothing and hiking boots.
The Carlton Hotel St. Moritz is only open during the winter season each year. It’s an all-suite luxury hotel with just 60 suites overlooking the lake, and facilities comprise three restaurants, including the Michelin-starred restaurant Da Vittorio, and the Carlton Spa encompassing 12,917 square feet. Top digs? The Carlton Penthouse, which comes with an open fireplace, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and five terraces and balconies affording 360-degree panoramas of the Alps.
