Newport Harbor Island Resort, located on Goat Island, RI, is set to reopen on April 15 following a property-wide renovation. Owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and operated by Davidson Resorts, the hotel's $50 million renovation includes refreshed guestrooms and suites, a contemporary spa, upgraded culinary experiences and meeting spaces, and a 22-slip marina. Located steps away from the water and downtown Newport, the resort will afford guests access to the New England town as well as a range of on-property experiences and rotating programming.
Newport Harbor Island Resort partnered with Dawson Design Associates to redesign the former torpedo factory. The guestrooms and suites, many of which offer private outdoor spaces, all have waterfront views. Much of the art in the rooms and throughout the hotel was commissioned from local artists, while soft goods were hand-crafted by various New England weavers’ guilds.
Guests and locals can dine in the property’s upgraded culinary outlets, including its full-service restaurant, 1639, and Torpedo Bar and Lounge, which sports a hand-laid stone fireplace with indoor-outdoor seating and waterfront views. The menus will include local, organic food sources, with a selection of signature dishes. Evocative of an early New England-style bakery with marble tile and motifs of black and white, the lobby’s bakery will serve coffee, freshly baked goods and grab-and-go items. The Pineapple Club will additionally have a refreshed menu, expanded cabana seating inclusive of an adults-only section on the lower level, extended service to the Marina Deck and dockside and special pop-up programming.
In keeping with the natural and sustainable design elements, The Spa at Newport Harbor Island Resort will reflect a palette pulled from hydrangeas, with hues of relaxing lavender, light periwinkle and celery green.
