When The Peninsula London opens in 2021, it will enter one of the world’s most exciting luxury hotel markets. It’s a crowded playing field in London, but the new kid on the block has ambitious goals, aiming to position itself as not only one of the top addresses in town, but also one of the best in the world. The official groundbreaking took place in November 2017, after the hospitality group spent many decades scouting real estate in the British capital. The location? The Peninsula London will overlook Hyde Park Corner and the Wellington Arch in Belgravia. In Peninsula style, there will be a grand entrance and colonnaded lobby, along with destination restaurants, a glamorous Grand Ballroom, and The Peninsula Spa. The 189 guest rooms will be decorated by famous interior designer Peter Marino, who took his inspiration from the surrounding Belgravia neighborhood. According to an official press release, the hotel will “showcase the best of British culture, art, and cuisine as well as The Peninsula Hotels’ peerless hospitality.”
In the latest news, The Peninsula Hotels Group has appointed Sonja Vodusek as Managing Director, effective February 2020. Hailing from Victoria, Australia, Vodusek has been with The Peninsula Hotels for nearly a decade, after serving as Hotel Manager at The Peninsula New York starting in 2010. She then worked as General Manager of The Peninsula Manila, before taking over as General Manager of The Peninsula Tokyo in 2015. Prior to joining The Peninsula Hotels, Vodusek honed her executive management skills in luxury hospitality with Four Seasons hotels in the U.S., Japan, Ireland, Australia and the Czech Republic.
