Niyama Private Islands Resort Maldives is offering a host of wellness programs this year. Beginning in January 2019, "Masters of Wellness"—experts in a range of healing modalities and beauty treatments—will travel from locations across the globe to consult with guests at Niyama. Guests are invited to rejuvenate in nature, heal with health practices and experience the twin islands of Niyama: Play and Chill.
The 2019 Masters of Wellness schedule kicked off with traditional Chinese medicine doctor Dr. Rui Pedro Loureiro who offered a blend of ancient wisdom and contemporary diagnostic techniques to guide guests to a wellness journey. The event was held January 1 to 5.
A living longevity protocol by Paulo Fernandes will be available next at Drift Spa from January 15 to February 15 and from March 10 to April 30, designed to help guests reach their goals of sustainable health and fitness. Fernandes specializes in nutritional microscopy and naturopathy. Certified by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in Manhattan, he is a coach to Hollywood stars and world-champion surfers.
Kinesiology specialist and seasoned trainer Richie Inskip will lead a series of fitness and sports program at Niyama, from professional sports massage to remedial exercises. As a professional surfer in the World Surf League, Inskip will visit Drift Spa by Niyama and ride the waves with fellow enthusiasts during the surf season, from July 1 to August 31.
From October 15 to November 22, holistic therapist Jade Wood returns to Niyama by popular demand to provide a series of one-on-one yin yoga sessions, cranio-facial massages, qigong workshops and an introduction to meditation. He is certified as a yoga teacher by the School of Sacred Arts in Ubud and as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist from the Body Intelligence Institute and Franklyn Sills.
A naturopathic doctor and yoga instructor from India, Dr. Gopal Govindasamy is an expert in Ayurveda, wellness and nutrition. In residence at Drift Spa by Niyama from December 15 to January 20, Dr. Gopal will lead several yogic detoxes, Ayurvedic journeys, healing massages and Chinese acupuncture sessions.
In collaboration with Beverly Hills IV Therapy, Dr. David Alessi returns to the resort’s Drift Spa from December 20, 2019 to January 2. 2020. Dr. Alessi will offer a menu of customized non-surgical cosmetic treatments and IV therapy formulations. The latter delivers nutrients directly to the bloodstream for immediate results and addresses stress and fatigue directly.
