We’ve been keeping tabs on Nobu Hotels’ first European venture, and now the debut of Nobu Hotel Shoreditch is just days away. Hot on the heels of the opening of the Nobu Ryokan Malibu, the hospitality brand founded by award-winning actor Robert de Niro and celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa is heading to London. The highly anticipated hotel, and Nobu restaurant, will open on Saturday, July 1.
In fact, the Nobu restaurant just recently opened its reservations line. Nobu fans will enjoy not just signature menu items like Black Cod with Miso and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, but also an array of new dishes that are exclusive to Nobu Shoreditch. A few examples: Hokaido Scallops with Foie Gras, Sautéed Japanese Mushrooms, Aji Matsuhisa and aged Balsamic, Plus Sea Bass with Yuzu Kosho, Tomato and Cucumber Salsa, Honey Truffle and Black Truffle Shavings.
Top tables: The exclusive 10-seat sushi bar and an 18-seat chef’s table. Fun fact: The bar will have one of the largest Japanese Whiskey libraries in London.
As we’ve previously reported, the five-story hotel has a very cool architectural design; a mélange of concrete, layered glass, and cantilevered steel was used to reflect the Shoreditch district’s industrial history. Indeed, the hotel aims to be part of “Shoreditch’s dynamic creativity energy.” To quote the official website, “the design blends the raw creative energy of East London with the understated luxury of Nobu.”
Facilities will include a fitness center with Technogym equipment, a small spa offering Nobu signature spa treatments like the Nobu Nagomi Ritual, and flexible meeting and events space.
Of the 150 guest rooms, the categories start at 237 square feet (the Deluxe rooms) and continue through the specialty suites like the Utage, Hikari, and Miyabi suites. Encompassing 861 square feet, the Nobu Suite is the crème de la crème: like a private London apartment with private balconies, a free standing tub, a dining area with bar and pantry, plus custom yukata robes.
