Anantara has announced the opening of Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort & Villas on an untouched island in the middle of Thailand’s Phang Nga Bay.
Situated on a mile of beach, this new resort is a 45-minute boat ride from Phuket and 20 minutes from Krabi. Anantara Koh Yao Yai offers 148 suites, villas and penthouses. The one- and two-bedroom villas offering private butler services, complimentary bicycles and direct beach access are well-suited for couples. The 3,229-square-foot Two-Bedroom Beachfront Pool Villa offers a living area, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms and a pool terrace with an outdoor rain shower. Good to know: All beachfront villas have been designed with eco-friendly grass roofing.
Alternatively, the Family Pool Access Suites come with bunk beds, plus a terrace opening directly onto the resort family pool with sunbeds. The Family Sea Views Suites cater for the whole family, with one part for adults and another for children, complete with an in-room slide and hidden play areas.
The resort’s eight butler-attended Sea View Pool Penthouses, spanning 3,617 square feet, have a living and dining room, a kitchen, a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom with two rain showers, an oversized soaking bathtub with sea views, two dressing rooms, an infinity-edge pool and sundeck. Tip: One of these accommodations also comes with a glass-bottom infinity pool seen from the living space below. Guests staying at the secluded Wellness Lagoon Pool Villas can enjoy yoga and meditation on a private pool deck, workouts with a personal trainer, in-villa spa and wellness areas and more.
The resort offers a range of dining options: The signature Beach Restaurant serving seafood; Pakarang, offering Thai dishes, with international breakfast favorites prepared at live-cooking stations and light bites served throughout the day; and Anantara Koh Yao Yai’s Japanese Restaurant. Alongside Pakarang’s organic, lactose- and gluten-free options, all restaurants offer kid-friendly meals. The swim-up Pool Bar, Family Bar and Beach Bar serve diverse offerings, from milkshakes and sundaes to sundowners.
Guests can also craft a bespoke experience with Anantara’s signature private dining concept, Dining by Design. With only their private chef and butler present, guests can enjoy a gourmet picnic on an island sandbank, a romantic dinner cruise or a champagne celebration.
Immersive experiences include tie-dye classes, island-hopping, mountain climbing, scuba diving and vintage sidecar tours to a rubber plantation. Hikers can visit Hong Island to discover a pocket beach with a lagoon, drift along mangrove canals in a kayak as hornbills soar above, or take a cruise on a longtail boat to a sand bank for a candlelit dinner. Onsite activities include stand-up yoga, stand-up paddle boarding, mountain biking, nature walks and more.
The Kids’ Club has a bubble pool with a waterslide and a unique vacuum fountain ball shower, plus a dance studio and a dedicated room for naps. Young guests can join supervised activities such as recycling projects, mangrove seedling planting, cooking classes or nature walks. The toddler zone provides professional childcare with baby yoga and other activities for one- to four-year-old children; teens have their own building and a restaurant serving a range of food and drinks.
During the day, the family pool is all about going down waterslides and refueling at the smoothie bar, before it turns into an outdoor cinema as the sun sets. Other family-friendly activities include roasting s’mores on the beach, hiking and biking trips around the island, Thai dance classes, glitter mani-pedis at the Anantara Spa, and treasure hunts for the whole family.
The Anantara Spa houses five treatment rooms split between single and double suites, hydropools and hammams. Other facilities include a freeform swimming pool, fitness center and beach pavilion where guests can participate in sunrise yoga sessions.
