Cali Mykonos has opened in the town of Kalafatis in Greece. Nestled between mountains, the boutique resort is perched above its own private beach—a rarity in Mykonos—with unobstructed views of the Aegean Sea. The Mourkakos family has taken over six years to build this property. At the helm is Kyriakos Mourkakos, and the property has been named after his mother.
Cali Mykonos has 40 luxury suites and villas. The accommodations range from deluxe suites to the three-bedroom Villa Calliope (and, eventually, the five-bedroom Cali Villa to come in phase two). Most suite and villa exteriors open to spacious and completely secluded marble terraces, seawater pools, and uninterrupted Aegean Sea views.
Overseeing the culinary experience is Chef Lefteris Lazarou, a prominent chef in Greece and the first to receive a Michelin-star. As his first and only restaurant on Mykonos, the menu will reflect local Mediterranean cuisine and change daily based on the catch of that day. A sushi bar nestled alongside the 130-meter seawater infinity pool offers light fare for lunch, and a cocktail bar is prime for sunset drinks.
Among the experiences, the resort has its own fleet of boats and yachts. Guests can take private charters to neighboring islands, explore Greece by air in a helicopter and immerse themselves in the local destination through tastings, tours and more. Cali Mykonos’ expert concierge can arrange all the experiences.
In partnership with the Athens-based fitness studio, Athlesis, the resort provides personal and group pilates, yoga, and training sessions poolside and in the gym. In-room spa treatments are also available for a selection of facials, massages, and scrubs.
The resort was constructed with as much material from the local environment as possible, with most of the stone coming from the initial excavation. Cali also features a self-sustainable water system, which avoids leaving a strain on the island’s local water supply.
