We’ve been anticipating the opening of the new Four Seasons Seychelles, and at long last, it’s here. A secluded island in the archipelago (Desroches is situated in the “Outer Islands” of Seychelles) is now home to a luxurious Four Seasons resort—and it’s the only hotel on the island. Billed as the “ultra-private island experience,” the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island ticks all the boxes for a tropical luxury resort experience, with the added benefit of activities for adventure-minded travelers. There’s cycling on nature trails, scuba diving from the Castaway Center, nature walks led by a member of the Island Conservation Society, and excursions to the Tortoise Sanctuary and Discovery Center to learn about the island’s natural world. Did we mention the island picnics prepared by Head Chef Olivier Barre and his team? Or the restaurant housed in a lighthouse?
Accommodations run the gamut from one- and two-bedroom suites to pool villas on the beach. Traveling with an entourage? There are also three-, four- and five-bedroom villas, along with the sprawling Presidential Villa, complete with seven bedrooms.
If you’re looking for some serious R&R, the Circle of Connection Spa goes beyond massages and facials to offer a series of Sensory Connection Rituals such as Rhythms of Desroches, which combines music and massage. The spa has also designed Morning Awakening and Evening Reflection rituals. And there’s an on-site yoga instructor who leads classes in a dedicated beach pavilion.
Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island welcomes families, with both a Teen Center and the Kids for all Seasons club, kitted out with a playground, relaxation rooms, and recreation center where dedicated staff entertain younger guests with games and educational programs.
The Desroches resort is a 35-minute flight from the international airport on Mahé island. This is the second Four Seasons resort in Seychelles, paired with the original Four Seasons property on Mahé. Island hopping, anyone?
