Just a 10-minute drive from the city center of Abu Dhabi, Saadiyat Island is a place of great natural beauty, edged by white sand beaches and turquoise waters that are home to bottlenose dolphins and hawksbill turtles. It is also becoming a cultural hub with a large concentration of museums such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which made a splash when it opened last year. Soon this popular museum, which has already welcomed more than a million visitors, will be joined by the Zayed National Museum and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
This is the scenic destination for Jumeirah’s latest resort, which recently opened on a 400-meter stretch of beach. Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort is billed as the group’s first “eco-conscious” resort with a number of environmental practices designed to preserve the island’s protected dunes and minimize the resort’s ecological footprint. The resort is reducing single-use plastics, eliminating plastic straws and offering guests locally sourced filtered still and sparkling water in their own reusable bottles.
The rooms offer panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf, while the suites frame the surrounding scenery through floor-to-ceiling windows. There are also two-storey private villas with pools. Facilities run the gamut from the country’s first Bodyism Wellness Center and three outdoor pools to the 2,700-square-meter spa with 15 treatment rooms and lavish wet facilities. Golf fans can tee off at the nearby Saadiyat Beach Golf Club. In addition, Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort has seven dining outlets ranging from Italian to Arabic.
