The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has announced the opening of its second hotel in the Indian state of Kerala. The Leela Ashtamudi, A Raviz Hotel complements The Leela Kovalam, A Raviz Hotel, and builds on the brand’s presence in the coastal state with the two resorts offering distinctive backwater and beach experiences.
The resort is set on the banks of the Ashtamudi Lake, formed by the confluence of eight lakes, offering a backwater experience that balances barefoot luxury with rustic charm. Placid waters surrounded by greenery and swaying coconut palms create a tranquil atmosphere and guests can enjoy curated experiences for cultural immersion into the destination.
With 93 rooms that reflect the traditional Nalukettu esthetic of Kerala, the resort is home to a range of accommodations, including rooms, suites and experiential houses. Guests can choose between the Tower Wing or the Heritage Wing, or elevate their experience by upgrading to one of the two available private plunge pool villas. The resort also has two traditional experiential houses offering the “Tharavadu Experience,” namely Erattupetta and Anchal, with a history of more than 200 years. Guests can also enjoy a backwater cruise on Mahayana, the houseboat equipped with all the comforts of a hotel.
The resort houses four dining venues: Keraleeyam the multi-cuisine restaurant; Portico Café, serving comfort food; Raanthal, the floating dining experience; and Zirkon, the aqua-themed bar.
