Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Rosewood Schloss Fuschl, set upon the waters of Lake Fuschl by the base of the Austrian Alps. This opening marks Rosewood Hotels & Resorts’ second property in Austria, following the opening of Rosewood Vienna in 2022.
The property has 98 guestrooms, including 42 suites and six chalets. Guests can enjoy guided fishing excursions on the lake, forest foraging with an expert herbalist and local-led cooking demonstrations in nearby alpine huts, all complemented by a bespoke Asaya Spa and a leisure beach club, Schloss Fuschl See Club, with direct access to the water.
Schloss Fuschl was originally built in 1461 as a hunting lodge for the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg. It served as the backdrop for hunts and court gatherings for over three centuries before its eventual transformed into a luxury hotel in 1947.
For wine enthusiasts, the rustic Vinothek and Terrace provide a meeting space to enjoy Austrian wines paired with hearty meals prepared at the kitchen counter. Other F&B venues include Schloss Restaurant, which celebrates the diverse flavors of the region, accompanied by a selection of over 1,400 wines; all-day dining restaurant Seeterrasse; Schloss Bar, the resort’s main beverage outpost; the Whisky Room, an extension of the Schloss Bar, offering a selection of dark spirits, schnapps and wines, along with bar snacks; the Sisi Tee Salon, which serves afternoon tea, cakes, pralines and more; and Schloss Fuschl See Club offering cabana rentals and a menu with a selection of seafood, complemented by live entertainment and seasonal music programming.
The 16,145-square-foot Asaya Spa at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl offers an array of wellness experiences and houses both indoor and outdoor infinity pools, three saunas and one steam bath, plus eight treatment rooms. Other facilities include a fitness center and hair salon. Good to know: Rosewood Schloss Fuschl offers two- to three-day retreats centered on biohacking, dynamic aging, holistic paths to well-being and more.
Curated experiences at Rosewood Schloss Fuschl include private after-hours tours of local museums with private concerts, hot air balloon excursions over the Alps and dirndl-making workshops focused on Austrian clothing. The resort also offers guided hikes, stargazing sessions, eco-friendly boating on electric vessels and excursions with a local master fisherman who has been responsible for operating the adjacent Schloss Fuschl Fishery since 1987. The resort also offers a local program that immerses guests in the cultural heritage of the Salzkammergut region. One standout experience is the Austrian umbrella atelier excursion where guests get exclusive access to the Kirchtag Umbrella Store and Workshop established in 1903.
