Hyatt Hotels has announced the opening of Thompson Madrid, the first Thompson Hotels-branded property in Spain. The 175-key hotel with three signature dining venues is housed in two historic buildings, located on Calle De La Montera, which connects the city’s main square, Puerta del Sol, to the theaters, cinemas and boutiques of the lively Gran Via Street. Even better: The neighborhoods of Malasaña, Chueca and Madrid’s city center are within walking distance of the hotel. A selection of galleries, museums, culinary delights and cultural landmarks are on every corner.
The hotel’s guestrooms and suites have floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces. A signature penthouse suite encompasses two stories and offers spacious living and dining areas, a bespoke bar and a private balcony with panoramic city views. Nicolás Villamizar, known locally as “Ä,” is known for his organic and avant-garde compositions inspired by Renaissance paintings. He will be creating exclusive pieces of artwork for Thompson Madrid, including a limited-edition map offered to guests at check-in.
Fourth-generation chef Nino Redruello serves as the property’s "culinary culture shifter," bringing a combination of traditional Spanish offerings with an innovative twist to Thompson Madrid, which features three signature dining venues. The hotel’s all-day bakery and bistro, The Omar, merges mid-century modernism with industrial open plan spaces, inviting guests to sample artisanal patisserie and seasonal, light bites. Guests can discover authentic cuisine and cocktails at Thompson Madrid Rooftop. Pretty cool: Alongside the panoramic city views, guests can enjoy the nearby infinity pool with a hydromassage system.
A hidden speakeasy-style bar, Hijos de Tomás, is slated to open this fall. The intimate drinking den will offer cocktails and live piano music. Other facilities include an open-air courtyard, hilltop residential-style bar and destination day club, and a 24-hour boutique fitness center.
Thompson Madrid offers six event venues with capacity for up to 321 guests, food and beverage, and the latest tech amenities. The collection of venues is suitable for social and corporate gatherings. The hotel also offers guests exclusive access to experiences across the city, including tours, art exhibitions and concerts.
Thompson Madrid will mark the third Hyatt-branded hotel in the city joining Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid and Hyatt Regency Hesperia Madrid. The second Thompson Hotels branded property in Europe, Thompson Vienna, is slated to open in 2024.
