New England Development has announced that White Elephant Palm Beach is now open. The 32-room property is housed in the former Bradley Park Hotel—originally constructed in 1924 as one of the first resorts on Palm Beach's Main Street, less than two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean and one block from the Intracoastal Waterway. In total, there are 13 rooms and 19 suites spread across four stories.
The footprint of the structure and the facade remains, while the interiors have been stripped to the bones and rebuilt by Boston-based Elkus Manfredi Architects. The firm—which has worked on The Peninsula Chicago and Four Seasons Residences, Boston—sought to create a hotel that showcases the history of the existing building while incorporating a contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean-revival architecture.
The property features a U-shaped outdoor courtyard that is the social heart of the hotel, whether lounging on the patio or around the pool. White Elephant Palm Beach’s signature restaurant Lola 41, a Nantucket staple, serves globally inspired dishes and local seafood specialties.
Interior design elements include a neutral color palette with metal accents and pops of color, along with hardwood floors, Carrara marble, tiling and woven rugs. There are 120 original pieces of modern and pop art curated by the owners and Elkus Manfredi.
Guestrooms and suites range from 510 to 3,000square feet. King-size beds are outfitted with Pratesi linens with upholstered backboards accented in a palm and flower print and all bathrooms have marble tiles, double sinks crafted from stone, a dry vanity and glass-enclosed walk in showers with L'Occitane bath amenities.
Good to know: Guests enjoy complimentary use of Priority Bicycles and Radio Flyer Wagons, as well as exclusive access to Barton & Gray yachts for excursions. White Elephant Palm Beach has also partnered with BMW. Guests can be chauffeured into town in a 7 Series; and the remainder of the fleet are available for guests to sign out for a few hours on a first-come, first-serve basis. A shuttle is also offered to transport guests between the beach and property, and complimentary sweet treats from the White Elephant ice cream cart are available poolside daily.
Earlier this year, White Elephant Palm Beach appointed Bernhard Duerrmeier as general manager. His hospitality career spans almost two decades, including 15 years in various leadership roles with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. Most recently, Duerrmeier served as the hotel manager for Four Seasons Hotel Montreal.
