O‘ahu’s Turtle Bay Resort has transitioned to The Ritz-Carlton O‘ahu, Turtle Bay. Host Hotels & Resorts, a lodging real estate investment trust, acquired the 450-room property and transitioned management to Marriott International upon acquisition closing. The hotel is now part of The Ritz-Carlton brand, making it the third Hawai‘i property in The Ritz-Carlton portfolio.
Set along five miles of the North Shore coastline, Turtle Bay Resort completed a major renovation in 2023, which unveiled newly designed public areas, including the lobby, a new club lounge, fitness center, full-service spa, dining outlets and more, not to mention updates to its guestrooms, suites and private oceanfront bungalows.
The Ritz-Carlton O‘ahu, Turtle Bay has appointed Douglas Chang as general manager. With over 40 years of luxury hospitality experience, Chang previously served as general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach; The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis; The Ritz-Carlton Club and Residences, Kapalua Bay; and Hotel-Hana Maui.
A native Hawaiian from the island of Oʻahu, Chang is an active community leader. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association, where he was also a founding board member. He is the advisory board chair for Pearl City High School’s CAHSL Academy and a board member of the Hawai‘i Tourism & Lodging Association, where he leads the Workforce Development working group. Throughout his career in Hawaii, he has also served as a board member, vice chair and chair of the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and has held roles in the Kauaʻi Visitors Bureau, Maui Hotel & Lodging Association, Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau and various other business councils across the Hawaiian Islands.
