The Oberoi Group has announced the opening of The Oberoi Vindhyavilas Wildlife Resort, Bandhavgarh in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The property is situated just a few minutes’ drive from The Bandhavgarh National Park, celebrated for its thriving population of Bengal tigers.
A highlight of the resort’s design is the wooden entrance door, handcrafted by local Gond artisans and carved with tribal motifs. Guests are welcomed into a lounge and bar featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and Gond artworks.
Set across 21 acres of forest, The Oberoi Vindhyavilas features 19 luxury tents and two Luxury Villas with private pools. The interiors of the luxury tents are accentuated with tribal-inspired details, from Gond art murals in the bath area to lifelike interpretations of local wildlife, hand-painted by local artist Rakesh Prajapati. Sliding doors open onto a private floating deck and private garden.
The resort’s Dining Room highlights heirloom recipes and local culinary techniques. Local ingredients take center stage, while global favorites, such as Neapolitan-style pizzas, grilled meats and seafood, round out the offering. Meals are thoughtfully curated across a variety of settings—high tea under a canopy or a bonfire at the Tree Court, grills and barbecues by the lake at The Bush Kitchen, or intimate dining indoors at the restaurant. The Bar serves a range of cocktails, regional teas and wines.
Guests can embark on guided game drives with expert naturalists, offering opportunities to encounter tigers, leopards, sloth bears, elephants and over 250 species of birds.
Beyond the wilderness, guests are invited to discover the region’s culture. Interactions with Sukhiram, a third-generation master Gond artist, provide insight into the storytelling traditions of this indigenous community. Other activities include walks through Sarmaniya village, folk performances in the evening and storytelling under the stars.
Wellness offerings include a soon-to-open spa, which will offer nature-inspired therapies, outdoor yoga sessions and guided meditation.
