Palazzino Belvedere Opens Its Doors in Malta’s Mdina

The Xara Collection has announced the opening of Palazzino Belvedere in Malta’s Mdina. The restored 17th-century palace has traditional Maltese tiles adorning the floor and honey-colored stone walls.

Palazzino Belvedere can sleep three adults or two adults and two children. It comprises two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining room, internal courtyard, corridor kitchen and basement area, plus three terraces and two balconies, all with views overlooking the Maltese Islands and the streets of Mdina. Guests of Palazzino Belvedere can also enjoy the seasonal outdoor pool at The Xara Lodge, located on the outskirts of Rabat, just a five-minute drive from The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux. Palazzino Belvedere also houses a variety of artifacts, artwork and a vault that once connected an underground route to St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina in times of war. Guests can relax in the internal courtyard, overlooking the Maltese countryside and beyond.

The ground floor of Palazzino Belvedere has a dining room that can comfortably seat six people. Guests will also discover a traditional corridor kitchen with all the necessary cooking equipment, as well as a stone staircase that leads to the downstairs basement, home to a wine cellar.

The primary bedroom on the first floor sports traditional Maltese tiles, fine linens, furnishings and more. The interconnected living room has tapestries that date back to the 18th century alongside surround sound and theater systems.

Stepping up the winding staircase, guests will discover a terrace with views of the rolling Maltese landscape. Palazzino Belvedere offers complimentary champagne on arrival and a Personal Experience Curator for guests’ needs. Complimentary return transfers from the airport can also be arranged.

Palazzino Belvedere joins the The Xara Collection, a portfolio that includes a 17-bedroom Relais & Chateaux palazzo The Xara Palace; the private Villa Barumbara Tal-Larinġ and five restaurants offering a variety of dining experiences, two of which are Michelin starred: de Mondion and Rosamí.
