Patagonia Camp, a Chilean hotel in Torres del Paine National Park, is introducing its new season by offering a Chilean Independence Day package (September 18). This includes celebrating Chile’s traditional customs including local cuisine, Chilean wine and the sight of springtime Patagonia.
The hotel’s newest program involves Deluxe Yurt accommodation (yurt: a portable, round tent covered with skins or felt), all meals (breakfast buffet, boxed lunch, prix-fixe menu) in addition to an open wine bar from Vina Matetic, daily events, a two-hour horseback ride (subject to availability) in Torres del Paine, entrance fees to parks and national monuments, a round-trip transfer from Puerto Natales, Cerro Castillo or Punta Arenas and bilingual guides.
Tip: The camp is situated on a private 84,000-acre reserve. Travelers get to stay in yurts, each decorated according to the styles of the region. They also include spa-like suite bathrooms and private balconies overlooking the hornes of the Torres del Paine massif and Grey Lake.
Since Torres del Paine has long hours of daylight, the hotel encourages guests to join in on the excursions, both private and general, offered by the property in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve of Torres del Paine National Park.
Tour options include hiking to the base of the Towers of Paine, visiting the Salto Grande or walking near the Grey Glacier. The hotel says a popular program is the wildlife-watching; sightings include foxes, huemul (Andean deer), llama-like guanacos and even pumas.
