The Peninsula London has unveiled its new "Peninsula Academy" program, offering a range of destination-specific experiences. New private tours and learning adventures will be introduced throughout the year for guests.
Curated cultural, historical and creative journeys include a "Crown Jewels Tour" and "Afternoon Tea with Garrard," a "Children’s Adventure Quest" in partnership with Sharkey and George and an automotive experience in partnership with Brooklands Museum and an opportunity to sit for the royal portraitist Ralph Heimans. Here's a full breakdown of the new experiences:
Crown Jewels Tour and Gemmology Academy – Guests will take a trip with luxury British jeweler, Garrard. The outing starts with a private, guided tour of the Crown Jewels, a collection of gems in the Tower of London. Back at the hotel’s Garrard boutique, guests will participate in a jewel masterclass led by Garrard’s in-house gemologist. The class will include service of signature Peninsula Afternoon Tea and the chance to try on replica tiaras worn by queens and princesses. This experience is limited to a maximum of four guests
The Peninsula Children’s Adventure Quest – On this outing, families embark on an adventure that transforms children and parents into secret agents for the day. The quest takes families around the city to some of London’s landmarks, from Buckingham Palace to Downing Street, where they will decode clues and unlock mysteries to complete their mission and recover Chef Terry Wong’s stolen spice mix. One of the hotel’s fleet of cars is on hand to help families move between locations. The quest concludes with Afternoon Tea in The Lobby. This program is available for a maximum of eight people. Children must be between six and 12 years old.
Concorde Legacy Experience at Brooklands – This experience begins with a Rolls Royce transfer to Brooklands Museum. Refreshments in the Members’ Bar are followed by champagne onboard the Concorde and visit to the flight deck. Guests will have lunch in the company of former Chief Concorde Pilots Mike Bannister and John Tye, who share stories of captaining the aircraft, and guide guests through a virtual flight on a simulator. Back at the hotel, guests will have a seven-course dinner at Brooklands by Claude Bosi, the rooftop restaurant, which pays homage to the classic eras of British aviation and motorsport. This experience is limited to two guests.
Bletchley Park Private Tour and Dinner – This experience transports guests to Bletchley Park, the former top-secret home of the World War II codebreakers and intelligence analysts. Guests will be met by Sir Dermot Turing, nephew of World War II code-breaker Alan Turing, for cocktails and canapés. During a private tour, Dermot will provide valuable insights into Bletchley’s history, sharing anecdotes from his uncle’s lifetime. The evening concludes with a three-course dinner in the Ballroom. This experience is available for a maximum of five guests.
The Peninsula’s Grand Tour of London – This excursion takes guests on a tour through 2,000 years of London’s history. Accompanied by a private guide, guests will visit the city’s iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace to the Tower of London, and learn about the history, secrets and scandals behind them. The trip concludes with Afternoon Tea in The Lobby.
Private Sitting with Royal Portraitist Ralph Heimans – This journey into the world of royal portraiture starts with an initial consultation with Heiman’s representative, followed by private viewings of his portraits in Westminster Abbey and St. James’ Palace. The sitting with Heimans will take place in a Signature Suite at The Peninsula London, where the finished portrait will be unveiled once it is completed, with a drinks reception for friends and family in-suite.
