The Peninsula New York Unveils Interior Design Refurb

A landmark building on Fifth Avenue since 1904, The Peninsula New York has announced the completion of a comprehensive interior design refurbishment, debuting a refresh of 219 guestrooms and suites, alongside public spaces and select dining venues. Led by New York City-based Bill Rooney Studio, the refurbishment, which commenced in January, includes the hotel’s lobby, accommodations, reception, Palm Court and the updated rooftop lounge, Pen Top.

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into The Grand Entrance with a chandelier overlooking the double-height entry Lobby with a marble double-staircase. The reception space and concierge desk have been redesigned. The hotel’s atrium, Palm Court, will sport a newly commissioned triptych by contemporary artist Ricardo Mazal.

Additionally, The Peninsula New York’s refreshed guestrooms and suites now have a light color palette, contemporary furnishings and lighting, and a selection of artworks, objets d’art and books. The hotel’s guestrooms have also been updated with high-tech conveniences such as touch-screen tablets offering six languages, bedside panels for ease of controlling temperature and lighting, and more. Good to know: Guests will also have access to a signature 24-hour digital concierge.

The Peninsula New York Pen Top

In a return to its original namesake, the hotel’s rooftop venue, formerly Salon de Ning, has been renamed Pen Top. The new louvered roof allows for indoor and outdoor year-round dining, providing more seating options for guests. The menu offers enhanced iterations of martinis and other classic and modern libations alongside wines and light bites.

Just off the hotel lobby is Gotham Lounge, making its return as a piano bar. Guests can enjoy gourmet cuisine while enjoying the resident pianist’s performances on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings from 6-9 p.m.

Guests can also enjoy breakfast, brunch and lunch at Clement. The outlet, and its adjoining bar, offer new dishes by Executive Chef Malte Kontor and exclusive drink creations alongside seasonal events. Clement is also known for its Fifth Avenue Weekend Brunch with sweet and savory classics showcasing local and seasonal ingredients.
