The Point in the Adirondacks of Upstate New York has announced the appointment of Kris White as general manager. With nearly two decades of hospitality management experience and a lifelong love of the mountainous region surrounding the property, White oversees all operations at the waterfront resort in Saranac Lake. To this point, he will lead marketing, food and beverage, rooms and guest experiences, as well as develop and maintain relationships with new and returning guests.
Speaking on his appointment, White said, “The most important thing to me is continuing to celebrate The Point’s storied legacy. I look forward to advancing our culinary and wine program and continuing to delight guests with special experiences. The Point is an iconic and beloved property and as its steward, I look forward to ensuring that it continues to serve as a home away from home for our guests for many years to come.”
White joined The Point from the Bohemian Club, a private club based in San Francisco, CA. White started as a summer management intern and rose to the position of general manager/chief operating officer over his nine-and-a-half years with the club.
A native of Ithaca, New York, White served in the U.S. Army for over four years, where he advanced to Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division as an Infantry soldier.
As the first Relais & Châteaux property in North America, The Point occupies 75 acres on the site of the former Great Camp of William Avery Rockefeller II. Guests are welcomed to a log mansion with a romantic ambiance that gives the feeling of “roughing it.” Each of just 11 guestrooms is individually designed and features artworks, antiques and rustic furnishings to exude comfort and invite relaxation.
