The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara has announced the appointment of Michael Aylmer as director of sales and marketing. In his new role, Aylmer will lead all sales, marketing, and communications initiatives.
Aylmer is joining from The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. While at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, Aylmer increased room nights and revenues, resulting in several accolades ranging from “Best Sales & Marketing Team” and “Best Public Relations” within The Ritz-Carlton regional awards. During his tenure, the resort also received its first combined Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond ratings, a first for a Ritz-Carlton western region resort.
Aylmer’s three years at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain were preceded by a national role as Vice President, Sales for Tucson’s Miraval Resort Group. Earlier, he served as Director of Sales and Marketing for The Homestead, a 483-room luxury golf resort and spa in Hot Springs, Virginia.
He has also held sales leadership positions for KSL Resorts, KSL Recreation, and Four Seasons, as well as for The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company international sales office in New York City.
Within Aylmer’s 25-year leadership background in hospitality, he has also been acknowledged for achievements in the fields of destination, spa and restaurant marketing, as well as innovation in resort recreation and golf sales.
Educated at St. John’s University, Aylmer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business marketing while on a full baseball scholarship.
The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara spans 78 acres and offers 358 guest rooms and suites, two natural beaches, gardens, and a collection of amenities including: a 42,000 square-foot spa and wellness center; three salt-water infinity pools; six culinary venues including the signature Angel Oak, housing the resort’s 12,000-bottle wine collection; activities program for guests of all ages; and 70,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space.
