The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is unveiling its 40 million-euro renovation. This refurbishment touched all aspects of the property, as the hotel’s guestrooms and suites, wellness facilities, lobby and lounge areas, and conference space were all upgraded. It has also added POTS, a new restaurant.
The new designs were inspired by 1920s Berlin; throughout the hotel, guests will encounter references to the golden era of German cinema.
Lobby and Guestrooms
Corner Deluxe Suite
The glamour of the property begins when guests first walk in: The lobby is styled like an early-20th-century literary salon. In it, there is a notable ironwork staircase, along with a crystal chandelier.
The rooms have contrasting colors of full-light headboards, while geometric patterns are meant symbolize Potsdamer Platz, a public square in the center of the city. Wash and makeup tables are reminiscent of wardrobes of early silver screen icons while the honor bar is a nod to their classic wardrobe boxes. Technology in the rooms include touchscreens controlling all in-room electronics and charging stations in the seats themselves.
Gastronomic Experiences
Fragrances
The marble-floored Lounge serves as the heart of the hotel. It offers afternoon tea served by specially trained tea sommeliers and is accompanied by a live pianist and.
At the new POTS restaurant, guests can sample German classics with a modern twist. (The restaurant’s name is another play on Potsdamer Platz.) It offers cosy seating niches, a room for group gatherings and an open-kitchen. Beaten and brushed copper accents, used throughout the interior design, reference the heavy kettles in which German beer is traditionally brewed. In the summer, its newly designed terrace overlooks the adjacent Sony Center and Henriette-Herz Park for light lunches or relaxed dinners.
The Curtain Club bar is designed to blend Art Deco elegance and Latin American playfulness. Designed in the style of a South American hacienda, a living room is the focal point of the bar with a stage for live music. Multiple award-winning mixologist and Chef Arnd Heissen and his team create unconventional drinks relying on Latin American flavors.
At the Fragrances Bar, there is an interactive experience where guests choose their favorite cocktails from a walk-through bar menu, the Hall of Fame. Each drink is inspired by a top-quality gourmet perfume. The bar’s design is derived from perfume flacons with ingredients and spirits arranged in pharmacy bottles. The space is peppered with dark mirrors and six avant-garde, Golden Age-inspired drawings by local artist Tina Berning line the walls.
Wellness and Meetings Spaces
Re-envisaged by interior expert Carbone Design, the hotel’s newly modernized wellness space offers two saunas, a cosmetic treatment menu and fitness equipment. There is also a pool, Jacuzzi and gym with brand-new equipment.
The divisible ballroom of the Beletage conference area is appropriate for parties, as well as corporate events. Seven additional event rooms featuring state-of-the-art technology have a total area of nearly 20,000 square feet.
