Thibaut Asso has been named director of sales and marketing at Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth, which is set to reopen in spring 2021 following an extensive restoration. In his new role, Asso will be responsible for developing and leading the resort's reopening marketing strategy, establishing relationships with industry partners, and developing new business alongside his sales team.
With 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Asso will apply his operational knowledge and executive insights to his new position at Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth. Most recently, he served as cluster director of sales and marketing, Americas for COMO Hotels and Resorts, based in Miami Beach, Florida. There, he directed all aspects of the sales and marketing department for two COMO properties, including implementing operational decisions as part of the executive committee and reopening COMO Parrot Cay in 2017 following its renovation. Previously, Asso was based in New York City and was the director of sales North America for Carlisle Bay Resort in Antigua and associate director of sales North America for Pineapple Luxury Hotels and Resorts, representing hotels including Carlisle Bay in Antigua, La Tremoille in Paris, One Aldwych in London, Il Salviatino in Florence and Upper House in Hong Kong. Prior to this, Asso spent eight years with Belmond Hotels (formerly Orient Express Hotels) in various sales and management positions.
Asso got his start in the industry on the floor and in management in food and beverage operations at hotel and resort properties in Monaco, Scotland, French Polynesia and the Caribbean. He earned a Baccalaureate in economy from Lycée Sasserno in Nice, France; a Hospitality Management Certificate from E-Cornell in the U.S.; and a diploma in information and communication from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis.
Spread over 18 acres on a private peninsula on the island of St. Barth’s, overlooking two beaches, Marigot Bay and Grand Cul-de-Sac, Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth originally opened its doors in 1986. Set to reopen in spring 2021, the resort will unveil a complete renovation of all 66 guestrooms, suites and villas, many with new private pools. The property will offer a range of updated amenities, including a beachfront dining concept and new pool, a Rosewood Explorers children's club, fitness center, tennis court, Sense, A Rosewood Spa and dedicated event spaces.
