The Royal Portfolio has announced the reopening of Africa House, the signature exclusive-use villa at its flagship Royal Malewane safari lodge, following an extensive redesign overseen by owner and designer Liz Biden.
Once the original Biden family bush homestead, the six-bedroom Africa House has been completely restyled in Liz’s signature design style, offering a different color scheme in each room and original artworks by contemporary African artists such as Michael Gah and Tega Tafadzawa. Ideal for families, multi-generational travel and reunions, Africa House can accommodate up to 12 guests in six en-suite guestrooms, each opening out onto a private deck with outdoor shower, while the expansive front deck, social spaces and swimming pools connect Africa House to the surrounding landscape and wildlife.
Highlights of the property include an expansive second courtyard and a family-friendly long room, featuring connected dining and living spaces, a pool table, board games, and more. Just a few steps from the villa sits the outdoor boma area, featuring a fire pit and outdoor pizza oven for al fresco dining and relaxation under the stars.
Guests at the exclusive-use Africa House can make their own schedules according to their precise needs, including timing and location of all meals and activities, such as private game drives and guided bush walks led by a team of experienced guides.
The Royal Portfolio includes Royal Malewane in Greater Kruger National Park, Birkenhead House in Hermanus, La Residence in Franschhoek, The Silo Hotel in Cape Town and a collection of private residences.
