Adventure-seekers take note: Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp has just opened in Tanzania. The camp has three set locations across the Serengeti, chosen specifically to follow the path of wildebeest and zebra migrations.
Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp has 10 luxury tents, which can be packed up and moved to each location, all including a wooden deck, en-suite bathroom with bucket shower and a personal attendant available around the clock. Handcrafted luggage, easy chairs and a cabinet make up the contemporary-yet-classic design of the tents. Itching for some sunrise yoga? Gym and yoga kits are provided. Note: All tents are the same, so no one option is better or worse than the others.
In addition to the new guest tents, the camp has a central canopied main tent with lounging and dining areas. For meals, guests can expect a range of international flavors paired with kachumbari (traditional Tanzanian salsa), coconut beans, paprika, cinnamon and chili from nearby Zanzibar.
Seen here is one of the 10 luxury tents.
The three set locations throughout the year are based on the migration path offering wildlife viewing from open plains, grasslands and rocky kopjes. Travelers can expect to see wildebeest, zebra, Thomson’s gazelles, and (fingers crossed!) the variety of predators that the migratory journeys attract. The Serengeti is also known for having the Big Five, as well as cheetahs, wild dogs, giraffes, waterbucks and impala.
The camp will be located in the Southern Serengeti in winter, the Central Serengeti from spring to mid-summer, and the Northern Serengeti through fall. Sanctuary Kichakani Serengeti Camp has replaced the existing Sanctuary Serengeti Migration Camp.
