Santo Pure Oia Suites & Villas has reopened for the 2023 season with a new head chef, new wellness packages and a continued focus on sustainable living.
Formerly known as Santo Maris Oia Luxury Suites & Spa, the newly rebranded resort is located a five-minute walk from Oia. It is divided into six "neighborhoods" with Mediterranean gardens centered around six pools. The resort resembles a typical Santorinian village, combining traditional Cycladic architecture with contemporary black lava and white tones.
In June, the resort will open 20 new suites extending the resort’s existing accommodation capacity to 83 suites and two villas. The 20 new suites have been designed by LAB 11 with a new primary color of dark grey, plus basaltic rocks, ochre, volcanic ash and white lime with solid wood accent features. The suites will include an open-plan living area, king size bed, and terraces.
Also new for 2023, Santo Pure will offer a wellness package that can be added to any room type. Guests can avail of in-suite amenities, specialized spa treatments, outdoor activities and outdoor yoga with views of the Aegean Sea. One option is a five-hour guided bicycle tour of the smaller neighboring island, Thirassia, where guests will explore the villages of Potamos, Manolas, Kera Village, Caldera View and Kimissis Monastery (Lady of Salvation), which is known as “the balcony of the volcano.” Along the tour, guests can experience local life with stops at bakeries and Mitato, an old winery serving local and Cretan delicacies, wine, raki and refreshments. The hotel will continue to offer spa and wellness treatments at Anassa.
Other experiences: Guests can explore Santorini from above with a helicopter tour or participate in a photography tour. Further activities include sailing around the Caldera and the island’s coastlines, horse-back riding through vineyards, hiking across the island or kayaking through verdant volcanic formations, underwater caves and reefs.
Alios Ilios, the resort’s fine-dining restaurant now has a new head chef. Andreas Vgenopoulos joins Santo Pure after a 22-year career that has seen him work in five-star restaurants and hotels across Greece, Sweden, Austria and France. Vgenopoulos has created a new seasonal menu, taking inspiration from his Mediterranean and international experience. Alios Ilios offers a laid-back and elegant setting with sunset views over the Aegean. Guests can also enjoy the all-day dining menu and sunset drinks at Akratos Poolside Bar, all underpinned by the resort’s sustainable ethos of farm-to-table, with the aim of becoming zero-waste to landfill by using herbs, fruits, vegetables and nuts grown in Santo Pure’s organic gardens and upcycling where possible (for instance, using banana peels to bake biscuits to reduce food waste).
Santo Pure is part of the newly launched Santo Collection of sustainably minded luxury properties in Santorini. Santo Collection includes the existing five-star boutique resort, Santo Pure, The Villas by Santo Collection—two new independent four-bedroom luxury villas that can be combined to create an eight-bedroom villa sleeping 16 guests, opening on July 1—and Santo Mine, the Collection’s newest five-star 37-suite luxury resort, opening shortly.
