The Shelbourne Dublin Hotel has recently completed a multimillion-euro refurbishment project, led by designer Guy Oliver, principal designer and owner of London-based Oliver Laws. The renovation included enhancements to the hotel’s Heritage Suites, Heritage Park View Rooms and the Grand Staircase, alongside a restoration of the hotel’s façade.
The Shelbourne Dublin Hotel has been open since 1824 and has 265 bedrooms, an on-site spa and four restaurants.
Updated Guest Rooms and Suites
In the Heritage Suites and Heritage Park View Rooms, Oliver redesigned the rooms with an emphasis on creating an authentic Irish atmosphere with the use of color, texture, cultural reference and art. He also used local suppliers and manufacturers wherever possible.
Many of the furnishing in The Shelbourne Heritage Suites and Park View Rooms were designed, crafted or sourced in Ireland, including the Waterford Crystal chandeliers, bespoke furniture, Celtic-themed embroidered curtains, and a collection of photography by Irish artist and photographer David Farrell.
The Princess Grace Suite has also been updated. The two-bedroom suite now has historical artwork, an antique dining table from Fennelly Antiques in Dublin, and other antique pieces including side tables, a master bed frame and French chairs alongside a writing table in the drawing room, which was restored from the hotel’s own antique furniture collection.
The Grand Staircase
Located in the hotel’s main lobby, the Grand Staircase's four tiers of windows will have the crests of each of the 32 counties of Ireland, with each tier representing a province.
A Suite Stay Package
To ring in the newly updated Shelbourne Dublin Hotel, the hotel is offering A Suite Stay Package that includes accommodations in one of the recently refurbished Heritage Suites and an array of amenities. With this package, guests can enjoy champagne and strawberries upon arrival and dinner for two at the hotel’s restaurant, The Saddle Room. The package is valid now through May 31, 2018.
