Luxury Travel Advisor recently ventured to Turks and Caicos to check out the destination’s newest luxury resort, The Shore Club on Long Bay Beach, and found a lot to enjoy if you’re going on a friends’ getaway, couples retreat or family vacation in the Caribbean.
The Shore Club has 38 suites and 110 rooms on the island of Providenciales’ Long Bay and comprises two luxury low-rise buildings with junior suites, one-, two- and three-bedroom furnished suites and two penthouses spread over nine beachfront acres.
We stayed in Room No. 2304, a Two-Bedroom Oceanfront Suite. The master bedroom has ocean views, while a second bedroom overlooks the pool and includes a beautiful tub. Nice Touch: Each room has a 55-plus-inch, rotating Smart TV and balcony. The master bedroom’s balcony spans across the suite’s living room. The suite also has a fully equipped kitchen.
In the middle of the two rooms is a lounge area with a pullout sofa, a small, flat-screen TV and its own bathroom. Hint: This room can be closed off as a separate kid’s room. The suite also comes with butler service, which was excellent during our stay. Our butler, Shakera Taylor, is highly recommended. Note: We suggest a $20 to $30 daily tip for the butler.
For any other questions about the rooms at this resort, reach out to Ling Riley (ling.riley@thepalmstc.com), director of sales.
There are a total of four pools here, including an adults-only lap pool in the wellness area in front of the resort’s yoga pavilion.
There is also an adults-only beachfront pool with a hot tub and private cabanas. Swimmers here get full views of the ocean and Long Bay Beach. Hint: If the wind cooperates, pool dwellers can watch scores of kite surfers doing tricks and whipping through the shallow water, which is about three feet deep even about a mile out due to a massive sandbar.
Shown here is the dining room of one of the two Penthouses, which offers sweeping views of the ocean.
The family-friendly Colonnade Pool is surrounded by luxury and garden cabanas. While all pools have cabanas, Colonnade has the most. Nice Touch: This pool also includes cushioned swings and a fire pit in the middle at the nearby Rope Bar, which, as the name implies, is adorned with ropes hanging from the ceiling.
The Rope Bar also plays host to the Manager’s Cocktail, a one-hour event that takes place every Thursday night from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. During this cocktail reception, certain alcohol, including our favorite beer at the resort, Turks Head Lager, is complimentary to guests.
The last pool is the family-friendly Sea Grapes Pool, which has a swim-up bar and a namesake restaurant that serves guests at either the swim-up bar or at a small, seating area outside of the pool. Tip: If you like meat, order the ribs and jerk chicken here.
This pool also has views of Long Bay Beach and the ocean. At the pool bar, ask the main bartender, Jovard Philocin, to whip you up one of his specialty cocktails.
There is also food and beverage service on the beach. Guests get a short red flag attached to a stick to shove in the sand when they need a snack or a cocktail. Attendants were usually there within a minute or two with a strawberry daiquiri or a cold Turks Head to sip in the sand or take into the ocean.
Our favorite of the three dining venues was the Peruvian-Japanese restaurant SUI-REN. Hint: Don’t miss the tuna and lobster here.
For all food and beverage requests, connect with Martin Davies (martin.davies@theshoreclubtc.com), director of food and beverage / executive chef.
The Shore Club has four pools, a fitness center and a Spa to relax and rejuvenate.
The resort’s Dune Spa has a relaxed, tropical feel as it is made up of three wellness cabanas located in the gardens. We got the resort’s signature full body massage and highly recommend masseuse Emmanuelle Vollant.
For all other spa requests, reach out to Maxime Cormier (maxime.cormier@thepalmstc.com), spa manager.
If you are a Millennial without a budget, this is a resort you can enjoy. For couples, the sunsets here are gorgeous and the beach is among the best in Turks and Caicos. For families, the water is shallow enough for a child to practice swimming in the ocean, although it can be a bit wavy at times. For friends and couples retreats, there are several impressive, connecting suites well-suited for fun social gatherings and dinners.
