Virtuoso’s Best of the Best Awards gave The Silo Hotel the “Best Achievement in Design” recognition. The hotel, located within the walls of the waterfront grain silo building in Cape town, is one of ten Virtuoso member properties and hoteliers to receive a Best of the Best award. Luxury Travel Advisor visited the new property last summer, saying at the time, "it’s safe to say that, when it comes to style, no other hotel in Cape Town compares to this." In other words: The award is much-deserved.
Liz Biden, founder of The Royal Portfolio and owner/designer of The Silo, individually designed each suite, public space and room at The Silo. She also personally selected and curated all the hotel’s contemporary African art, since it is located on top of the Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa), which was designed by the London-based Heatherwick studios.
Virtuoso’s award winners were selected by popular vote; the company’s 1,000-plus travel agency members and their 17,5000 professional travel advisors participated. Each honoree will also be featured in the September/October 2018 issue of Virtuoso Life, the network's magazine.
The Silo is the latest addition to The Royal Portfolio, which includes the newly renovated Royal Malewane in Greater Kruger National Park, Birkenhead House in Hermanus, La Residence in Franschhoek and The One Above in Cape Town.

This organization is by-invitation only and it includes more than 1,000 travel agency partners with 17,500 elite travel advisors in 50 countries throughout North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.
