Six Senses Kyoto has opened reservations for stays from April 23, 2024. The wellness retreat in downtown Kyoto marks the brand’s entry into Japan. Kyoto is known for its Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, palaces, tea houses, traditional Japanese architecture, cherry blossoms, and mountains covered in centuries-old cedar trees surrounding the city; the resort is located in the Higashiyama district.
Conceptualized by BLINK Design Group, Six Senses Kyoto offers 81 guestrooms and suites. Ranging from 452 to 2,562 square feet, the accommodations are designed to offer views of the central courtyard, the gardens of the neighboring Toyokuni Shrine or the city skyline. The Three-Bedroom Penthouse Suite on the top floor of the hotel is best suited for multi-generational travelers or guests looking to host private events and get-togethers on the adjacent rooftop terrace.
Guests can enjoy culinary experiences at the all-day dining restaurant and counter-style sushi restaurant. Guests may dine indoors or out under clear skies. A meandering garden pathway leads to the cocktail lounge and bar offering a combination of European and Japanese beverages.
Guests can embark on enriching and immersive journeys with access to a range of hands-on experiences, including the Earth Lab, Alchemy Bar and herb garden. Six Senses Spa incorporates smart science, traditional healing and Japanese Zen culture into a unique wellness experience, offering a range of rejuvenating treatments and programs rooted in Kyoto’s culture and community. The spa houses traditional male and female bath houses, an indoor pool and Watsu, a gym and Biohack Recovery Lounge. Activities include yoga, aerial yoga and meditation.
Alternatively, guests can partake in guided adventures through hidden alleys, temples and the vibrant markets of Kyoto. Nearby attractions include Myoho-in Temple, Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangen-do Buddhist Temple.
