Snorkel in the Dark at Baros Maldives

Think you’ve seen all there is to see while snorkeling? Think again. Baros Maldives is offering an after-dark snorkeling experience: glow-in-the-dark style.

Baros Maldives is offering guests a variety of unique water experiences for the sophisticated traveler, from Maldivian hand line fishing to glass bottom canoeing, a ride aboard a traditional Maldivian Dhoni and of course glow in the dark snorkeling.

After sundown, brave swimmers will be given powerful underwater flashlights to venture into the resorts house reef to witness nocturnal sea creatures unavailable to snorkelers who swim during the day. During Baros’ Glow-in-the-Dark experience, guests will be armed with special blue torches which will allow for the illumination of fluorescence among the reef corals and fish. A reflected light will also illuminate strong yellow, green and red neon colors of Maldives indigenous underwater species.

Also available to guests is Baros’ 19-foot traditional Maldivian sailing Dhoni, which can be chartered for half or full day trips – complete with a full crew – well suited for a romantic sunset cruise, a private big game fishing trip or to learn traditional Maldivian fishing methods like trolling for tuna and jack fish with a hand line. The resort’s glass-bottom canoes offer guests the opportunity to experience vibrant underwater corals and fish, as well as search for whales and dolphins.

The Small Luxury Hotels of the World member, located about a 25 minute speedboat ride away from the Maldives International Airport, is an adults-only property that has 75 secluded villas, both over water and by the beach, with dedicated 24-hour island hosts as well as three gourmet restaurants, two bars and a thriving house reef.

Baros Maldives also offers private snorkeling lessons and experiences available for anyone from beginners to experts. Call Baros Maldives' Information & Reservations Department at +960-664-2672 or e-mail reservations@baros.com for more.
